Visualizing Julia Sets

Published:

For my masters thesis, which I did with Dr. Vikram Aithal, I primarily studied ideas in global and local dynamics admitted by collecting iterated folds of holomorphic self-maps defined on a Riemann surface. A part of this work involved developing a Python package which could (amongst other things) plot Julia sets corresponding to arbitrary maps defined on the extended complex plane. I was invited to SageDays114 to present this package, CDynamics. I am interested in, and plan on re-writing the package with a Julia backend sometime soon. To see CDynamics in action feel free to run pip install CDynamics on your Python environment with this guide at hand.

Programming Lab 1

Visiting Faculty, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, 2022

I taught a semester-long introductory course on scientific computing using Python and R to fresh graduates pursuing their masters in mathematics. The core goal of the course was to communicate how scientific computing libraries like NumPy, SciPy, SymPy and MatPlotLib can be used to efficiently tackle problems arising in the field of applied as well as pure mathematics. The course was structured to lay a special emphasis on themes which are fairly recurrent at the interface of mathematics and computing, namely, numerical linear algebra, analysis of systems of differential equations, symbolic computations, fractal-systems, etc. The open book/internet exam that I set for the course is availiable here.
